I have tested it against Komodo 6. With DF14 Komodo6 wins, but with Fritz 13 Houdini 3 is the winner. The same settings.

Under DF14, Houdini 3 reaction is a bit slower. After your move, it may take few seconds until you see the engine lines working. All other engines are working perfectly with DF14. With Fritz13 everything is working perfectly for me. Btw, I have AMD8350/32GB Ram. For some reason any engines won't let me use more than 16GB for hash. And yes, I think some engines doesn't support too much hash table. It's useless to use very large hash anyway, for 128mb should be enough for blitz games. And as a rule, don't set a hash bigger than 50% of your system memory coz it will slow down your system, thus affecting engine speed too. About 30% is already big enough. I need a lot of hash because I'm analyzing many variants for hours. If positions are saved in memory the process become faster. With 16GB of 32GB of total RAM I don't see any performance degradation even if I temporary stop the main GUI then start other GUI + other engine (komod6) with 8GB of hash -24GB of total hash.

These days RAM is are very, very cheap and it is a good idea to have at least 16GB of RAM. Even a cheap motherboard supports up to 32GB of RAM. Regarding Houdini + DF14, the issue is very clear.

At least for me, the engine is starting to work after seconds when you make a move and for short games this is a real issue. Man, I have just test my Houdini3Prox64 with Deep Fritz 14 x86 GUI and it works fine. It fired up it's lines instantly after I made a move. I also tried to fire it up on evaluation mode (fritz switch off engine and on again, as if Kbitzing mode) and it also fired up it's evaluation lines instantly after I made a move.

Are you using x64 GUI? If yes, I think x64 GUI is really buggy as you can read in my other thread (the Yet Another Deep Fritz Thread.) Try using x86, it's response time is as quick as Fritz 11 or other versions of Fritz. I'm having trouble with x64, it loads slower than x86.

Else, try reinstalling your GUI, make a clean install, clean up registry, check disk 'chkdsk c:/f' in DOS command prompt. Well, im using windows 8 here. You should have a faster response time coz you have a much better machine than I.

I also tested Houdini 3 Pro x64 against Stockfish DD in Fritz 14 GUI and Houdini is catching up with Stockfish, trailing Stockfish by one or two points in my unfinished tournament. It's working Ok.
