This could be one of my favorite games of the year. For one thing, Toy Defense 3 is long - 6 screens with over ten battles each. The set-ups are different, and as usual you earn coins to build your towers. Along the way you update them in the store through victory earning. I loved the way you couldn't randomly upgrade towers during a battle.
The towers move up through experience points, so those in 'busy' positions upgrade first. This means you have to position your defense in strategic places and sometimes forego populating every spot with a tower. The graphics are gorgeous, the animation is amazing (I love the fire wheel option for the Greek Fire cannons) and the main castle has its own defense strategy.
I played this until I won every level with three stars because TD3 is just that addictive. If you're a tower defense fan, this is a great game. Rated 5 out of 5 by DavidDavis2 from GREAT with one big problem This is my favorite tower defense game. It's fun to play, but it has one problem that has been reported some time ago and at the time of this writing, hasn't been fixed. The pros: Neat animations of elves going about daily activities in the midst of massive battles Great variety of choices in the technology trees Strategies are fun to figure out, and not obvious The cons: BIG: In about one scenario in 25, you have to quit out of the scenario because the game stops feeding you attackers.
This is a random effect, so if you quit out and restart the scenario, you usually get through it normally. But it can be VERY FRUSTRATING when you've spent 20 minutes nearly beating a scenario only to have the game go into an infinite loop. SMALL: Like other Toy Defense games, when you're in a scenario with a snow background I get eyestrain trying to find the cursor. SMALL: The easy level is very easy (I beat all scenarios with three gold stars using only elves# and the hard level is very hard #good luck if you don't get stunning elves). It would be nice to have an intermediate level to learn on.
But as I said, this is my favorite of all the tower defense games, and I've played all that Big Fish offers. Rated 5 out of 5 by JustJoie from Best In The Series I own all three of the Toy Defense games, but found the first two to require a lot more effort than I can usually put in for fun after a long day. Fantasy is different, a wonderfully perfect blend of challenge and gratification when you beat a level. Difficulty ramps up gradually, upgrades to each troop type makes a world of difference, and the occasional gross overkill level happens and is fun to win well:). It looks good, plays well, and is FUN if you enjoy Tower Defense games.
Not too hard or too easy, either. My favorite since Master of Defense came out - which is saying something. That is an old classic TD game. Thanks, Devs. Nice job here with this one. Rated 5 out of 5 by BadWhippet from Excellent game for the Tower Defense stable I love Tower Defense games and own more than I care to think about(!). The Toy Defense series is a competent contender which is enjoyable to play but without being one of the all-time epics.
Toy Defense 3 Fantasy does not disappoint and is actually better than its predecessors. The game offers: o individual tower upgrade trees that split into different directions o overall upgrades (all towers gain x% strength etc) o classic fantasy towers: rapid-firing archers, slow but strong bolt arrows, burning cannons and Mages o four additional powers like chill, fireballs and health restore that the player can deploy o a raft of achievements that award extra upgrade points o hundreds of levels - this game is simply huge! The level of strategy in the game is spot-on. It really does matter which towers are used where, and each level requires a different strategy from the last (so all is great there).
The rate of upgrade, reward and challenge is also perfectly balanced. I never once found myself frustrated, the rate of being rewarded upgrades kept my interest and the level of challenge wasn't too easy, nor too hard.
There is much more to play through compared to other TD games that can be over all too quickly. There are many more levels than is typical for the genre but it doesn't become dull (my feeling throughout was delight that I had much more to play).

Full marks for this. The only minor niggles are these: during play, it becomes very costly and almost impossible to make use of the highest of your hard-won tower upgrades before the level is defeated, so you won't always see the benefit of the upgrades you make.
And an asthetic issue: in later levels, the mouse pointer is lost in all the action taking place on screen so it can be hard to find it in order to click on a tower urgently. The game would really benefit from a larger, in-game custom cursor for this.
There is nothing new in this TD not available in others in the genre, but this version has been made very well indeed and you get a lot of game for the money. I've thoroughly enjoyed playing this and recommend it to anyone who enjoys Tower Defense games. Rated 5 out of 5 by lacard from Best TD in a very long time Finally finished the game in Casual Mode with 3 stars. Started the game over in Hard Mode. Changing modes required a new player and buying new upgrades. This time around I'll know what upgrades I want first. Very re-playable and fun to try different arrangements of towers.
Graphics are clear and well drawn. I really enjoyed the fantasy creatures much more than the military of the early Toy Defense games. The higher Tower upgrades' graphics are superb. The ring of fire animation, for example, is terrific.
The Acid Rain is a little too opaque but presents another challenge. The battle fields are complex enough to challenge and drawn clearly. Music and sound effects are appropriate but I found them distracting and muted. The challenge in the Casual Mode wasn't that bad.
The first 8 levels were super easy. From level 9 on it got trickier. Buying upgrades for the towers, castle, and magic were critical. Several levels required re-plays to get the 3 stars/300 coins to buy upgrades.
And upgrades are worth buying. The Castle and Magic upgrades are really important to buy early. You can buy upgrades and go back to previous levels but if you don't have enough coins, you can't buy upgrades - arrrgh. Game-play was standard for tower defense games. There's a pause button to consider layouts and change/upgrade towers.
You can speed up the pace to get coins. Creatures damage towers so they have to be repaired with coins. You can't just sit and watch the creatures march around. If they aren't repaired they have to be resurrected with a magic button. The magic buttons include a freeze that slows down the march, an asteroid that destroys, a repair button for all the towers at the same time, and the resurrection button if you missed a tower.
They all take time to recharge which is part of the upgrades. The top upgrade of the asteroid button, for example, leaves the ground burning for a few seconds. Overall, I highly recommend this game to tower defense players. Especially anyone tired of military-based TD games. It might be too challenging for TD newbies who might want to try the earlier games that were simpler in the choice of towers and layouts.

Rated 4 out of 5 by joizzz from Watch out if you speed up Game is fun and a little challenging to think where to put your best troops. Of course it also links to FB and there is the 'spend money' to get better option. You can play for free and so far I've not had to hire a bunch of friends to do things like with other FB games. Watch out if you hit the fast play however as you can kill off your guys before you know it and even if you restart level the stars and power up like things are gone.
I'm on level 9 now and enjoying it. I'll be interested to see if I still enjoy it by the end. Rated 4 out of 5 by latinavixn from Love the game but dont be fooled by 'Free to Play' When the original Toy Defense game came out a few months ago, I was hooked instantly. So when I saw this game and that it had new levels and new weaponry I was so excited, that didnt last long. So, this game is exactly like the original except there is a new level called Die Hard (desert location) which contains 24 levels and you have to pay for upgrades or become an advertiser for the game to acquire free stars which are needed to upgrade your units. You have 2 choices buy stars from the in-game store for real money (which I would never be willing to do- I like to replay my games too much to ever waste money like that).
The in-game store prices: 0.99 for 500 stars, $2.99 for 2000, $3.99 for 3500, $4.99 for 5000, $9.99 for 12000, $19.99 for 30000. If you'd like to take the free route: you'll get 25 free stars for a tweet, 100 free stars to 'like' on facebook, or 25 free stars to post on facebook.
Why bother making a game thats free for us to download the entire version but then charge real money to upgrade anything or be forced to have to do advertising for this company by tweeting, liking, & posting on stupid websites. What about those of us who dont use twitter or facebook ( I cant stand those sites ), someone like me would have to pay if I want to upgrade. Also there are new upgrades: Protective Barrage: destroys enemies near the base youre not given access to it until you pass 12 levels or spend 700 stars just to get TWO FREE USES! Repairmen: Towers are repaired automatically for free for 60 seconds, 100 stars will get you 3 free uses.
Resurrection: allows you to revive a single defeated unit, but its available to you until after 7 levels of play, or you can unlock it immediately for 300 stars & get only 3 free uses out of it. Lastly theres Squashing: Squash enemies by clicking on them, not available until level 17, but you can unlock immediately for 1500 stars to get a measly 5 free uses. And of course theres still the regular upgrades from the original game & the price of stars to purchase them is still the same. Now take a look at the star prices to upgrade and then look at the tiny amount of stars they give you to advertise for them on twitter and facebook.YOU'LL BE LIKING, TWEETING, & POSTING ALL DAY JUST TO BE ABLE TO UPGRADE ANYTHING. Of course this was intentional because they WANT you to PURCHASE the stars with real money.
So unless you have money to throw away (because the upgrades even if purchased with real money will only be good for THAT GAME) What happens when you want to play the game over again fresh. I've played the original Toy Defense over 5 or 6 times since it came out, and the fun of it was selecting new upgrades that I didnt take the last time. You could never do that with this game, unless you want to pay through the nose or spend your entire day on Facebook & Twitter! They chose the wrong title for this game.it is not free play. I hate to say it because I LOVE the game but for these reasons, I dont recommend the game. I'm sure there are ppl who wont care about spending money that way, or those who spend all day on facebook & twitter anyway, so they wont care.
I play these games as a way to relax from a hectic day, the last thing I want to think about is having to spend hard earned money over and over again or having to do the social network thing. Love the game, hate the conditions that come with it. Rated 4 out of 5 by Poem123 from Tower defense with twists I've played this game extensively online and it's one of the more entertaining tower defense games. Some of the twists include the option to transfer any 3 turrets from one level to the next (including fully upgraded ones). The maps and enemies are interesting and varied, and there are multiple strategies you can employ in terms of placement, tower types and budget. The free-to-play but pay-for-bonuses model seems to be new on this site and it's an interesting direction to take with this game.

Game play is addictive and the interface is nicely handled, making upgrades and new turrets easy to handle. Towers can only be placed on designated spots, adding to the logistical challenge. Great game for tower defense fans, and easy to learn for new players. Since it's free to play, I highly recommend giving it a try.
