I have one I got new sometime around 91 or 92 as I recall. The gold label under the tuning dial was added after the first year with the silver label. It indicates nothing. Pete, wa2cwa I have heard conflicting stories on this. BTW my 830 does indeed have 940 IF filter. Also there was also a 830 Gold (not gold label) that came with optional filters already installed that came out soon after 830 came out but it did not come with 940 IF filter.
